Rumble in Parliament
Mar. 13th, 2009 | 03:26 pm

I took the poses from a photo of two member of the Taiwan (maybe Thailand?) parliament who got into a fight. I wanted to post a link to the news article that had the photo but I can't find it now...
Anyway, I was impressed that these politicians felt so passionate about whatever it was they were debating that the argument became physical. When was the last time a fight broke out on the floor of the U.S. congress?

Nuka-Cola Whizbee
Mar. 10th, 2009 | 02:21 pm
I don't do much fan art. But I love the Fallout game setting. If it were available I would keep a box of Sugar Bombs in my pantry just to pay homage to the game in a subtle way (with the added bonus of paying homage to Calvin and Hobbs at the same time). And I did have a red frisbee with a boring wells-fargo design on it laying around. So I sanded off the old design and stenciled a new one onto the flying disk.

Some major drawing issues because I tried to do it too fast, but still a decent drawing.

On Display at Equinox Ultra-Lounge
Feb. 22nd, 2009 | 06:02 pm
I recently became privy to the opening of a new shop here in Las Cruces. It's called Equinox Ultra-Lounge, They serve tea and coffee with a BIY (brew-it-yourself) flair and also sell various arts and crafts. It looks like it's shaping up to be a fabulously casual art venue.
I met with the owner, Jazmin Garcia, and togeather we found one of my paintings that is perfect for her shop. So now "Icarus Fallen" is on public display and available for purchase!
If you happen to be in Las Cruces you should stop by, enjoy a cup of tea, and see my painting! They're located at 1006 S. Solano, Las Cruces NM and open between 11:00am and 8:00pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 12:00 pm till 6:00 pm on the weekends.

Tiki Cruzer
Feb. 21st, 2009 | 11:42 am

So I've been using a cruzer micro flash drive for the past four years (actually, I've used several of them. I loose them alot). They're cheap and they don't have a cap for me to misplace. Unfortunately, they're also boring and ubiquitous. It seems like 80% of the flash drives on campus are identical black rectangles.
So I decided to mod mine. Now, I love that you can stick a flash drive in almost anything. However, I didn't have anything I particularly wanted to stick it in. Maybe next time. I also wanted it to retain it's small profile since I do most of my computing on the campus labs and need it to fit comfortably in my pocket all day. So I painted it.
After I pried it apart with a small screwdriver and sanded down damage the screw driver had done to the plastic, I gave it a coat of blue Krylon Fussion spraypaint (the only spraypaint I had on hand). It looked pretty slick after I superglued it back together. Even just being blue was a major improvement. For a little added pizazz I painted some little tiki faces on it with some acrylic paint.
I have a feeling this may wear off in my pocket after a while. We'll see how long it lasts. Next time I think I'll make a stencil for the faces so there aren't any brush marks.

Not really a big fan of this drawing. Or it's title. But there it is anyway.

NMSU Race Club "One Shirt Challenge" Shirts
Feb. 11th, 2009 | 09:23 am

So the NMSU Race club (which I'm involved in, started a new game. The goal is to wear your shirt longer than anyone else. You're not allowed to take it off. Ever. You can shower, but you have to shower with your shirt on.
I thought this sounded like fun, so I made a batch of t-shirts with the race club logo on them just for the competition. My hope is that our classmates will notice that we've been wearing the same, rather distinctive, shirt for a while and ask us about it. This gives us a chance to talk about race club and maybe get some new members!
Our racers seemed to like the shirts and they were all snatched up pretty fast. Maybe I'll make more later just for fun. I really wish I had photos of people actually wearing them...

Ok, so I'm late for posting the January pano and I missed December all together. Oh well.

Hey, keep an eye out because later this week I'll be starting a new kind of post, completely different from the other stuff you've seen here. Guaranteed to eat your bandwidth or your money back.
